This is Big Girl my Pieleated Wood pecker. If I am in the yard when she comes for suet she will fly through the yard scolding me. She will land in the woods and let me know she wants me out of there. Her mate is more cautious. Thse woodpeckers are about the size of a crow. The male looks like this except he has a red beard

This is one of the chickadee’s that come to see me when I give them their special treats.
These birds and the nuthatches land in my hand for unsalted dry roast nuts.
In the Spring they leave my yard and go north but come Fall the same bunch comes back.

This is Annie. She came into the yard looking for company. I think her mother is gone because of hunting. She is eating good so she will survive.

Day one of new blog.
Let me take you to a place far away from the toil and bustle of everyday life, to a place along side a lake, where nature has it’s own schedule, and those who are quiet and patient can converse with the animals.
